Granddad comes to visit!!

Granddad Taylor made a special trip to Portland for President's Day weekend! We had not seen him since August, and so it was really great to have 4 solid days together - no work and all play. Rowan had a fever for the first day or so, but luckily the weather was beautiful and I think a good dose of sunshine finally got him over the hump...and the rest of our weekend was even better.

Check out Rowan's new shirt it says "I [heart] dirt" and it has an excavator on it - this was a Valentine's gift from Mommy, I was so proud of myself for finding it! Rowan's obsession with excavators continues, so this shirt was P-E-R-F-E-C-T for him. Anyway, this is over lunch, Rowan being particular cute for the camera...

Granddad loved reading books to Rowan - an activity that Rowan never refuses.

Ah yes - Sunday mornings in the Mudge household! Rowan standing on the back of the couch to make sure he has a clear view of the outside world (I swear it's safe!); and in this instance, Granddad reading the NY Times completely un-bothered by the toddler climbing on top of him. Love it!

Rowan was fascinated with Taylor's explanation of how the digital video camera works - all those cool lights, buttons and noises! I think this is the beginning of a very deep relationship between these two...

We took a fun walk along the Willammette River one morning...well, it was mostly fun. The pictures below show only the fun moments, but it all ended when 2/3 of the way back to our car, Rowan decided he didn't want to walk, be held, or confined to the stroller - so he proceeded to scream and kick the rest of the way. Nothing like a screaming baby on a crowded, sunny, and otherwise peaceful morning...but hey, he's still a great kid and we love him!

Back at the "ranch"...Rowan took a test drive of his NEW, COOL tricycle. Of course, 2-3 blocks MAX is about as much as he can handle...and then he wants "up" to stop and smell the roses, pick up rocks, chat with neighbors...always lots to do and see.

And one last photo op with Granddad Taylor - who Rowan now calls either "Dad" or "Tater" ...I guess over time, Rowan will call him whatever he pleases and then that will be his official grandparent name. :) Come back soon, Taylor!!

Dargan - Loving the new pictures of Rowan. And, so glad that you have had a few minutes to get them on your blog. It's so fun to check in on things even from so far away. Take care!
